Some Boys It would be so much easier if I could just say Boys Are Stupid, Throw Rocks At Them and have that be that, wash my hands of it, ta-da, done and over with. And though I can't put myself behind this statement fully, there is actually much evidence that some boys are stupid and should have rocks thrown at them. K, for example, the guy who was apparently soooo interested in me, never called. So I decided to put on the pants and call him...only to hear a tone of voice that implied, 'I am so not happy to hear from you' and hear lame excuses about how he forgot he had my phone number. Both of them. Apparently he's in town Wednesday and might like to hang out or do something or other. Y'know what - no thanks. I also have a couple girl friends who are still dealing with residual ex-boyfriend crap and it makes me angry because it's just that - crap. Spare each other, please! Leave each other alone and go on with your happy lives as best you can. You've torn each other to bits already, now burn the aftermath and regenerate from the ashes. But then again, not all Boys Are Stupid. Not all of them deserve to have rocks thrown at them. Some boys talk to you on the phone for hours about how hot it is or about nothing at all. Some boys go to Sobey's with you late at night to buy vegetables for a dinner that you're not even having with them. Some boys let you stay over when it's late and too dark for you to walk home alone (though he never offers to walk you home). Some boys go to an all night Shoppers Drug Mart with you to buy baby cookies and ice cream and then download an episode of South Park because you need to watch it for your seminar in California. This boy is good. And then there are the boys in California. One boy gives you their number in case you get lost or need a hand when you're in a city you've never been to. Another boy in California offers to pick you up from the airport, take you to lunch, to shop, to hang out, offers you a place to sleep and a drive to your conference. These boys are not stupid. They should not have rocks thrown at them. |
