I'm So Possessive I Make Myself Sick You know what I think is GREAT? I think it's GREAT to come into work one day and be told that you're going to start sharing your office with SEVEN other people in about two weeks. I also think it's GREAT to come in on another day and have your KEYS taken away from you. Oh don't worry, the other staff members will let you in with THEIR keys because they're STAFF and have their own keys and you're just a STUDENT and therefore you don't matter! And then, to follow up with that itty-bitty piece of news that you'll be SHARING YOUR OFFICE WITH SEVEN OTHER PEOPLE, someone from I.T. comes in to fiddle around with your computer! Whee! They change your logins and passwords and EVERYTHING that they set up for you when you first started. Moreover, they do this when you're not working so that when you come in the next day, YOU CAN'T LOG IN! Oh look, I can't access my email! THAT'S FANTASTIC! All your web history is deleted, all your bookmarks are gone! Yay for multi-user thingies! Insert BIG SMILE here because SHARING IS GOOD!! And then, someone super sweet but ultra professional comes in to clean up the office - YOUR office - and now you have to take stuff off your corkboard and keep all your stuff to one side and they get the other side and they get THAT section of the desk and THAT area by the phone and they moved the Post-Its over THERE and sorry, do you mind if we snoop they say as they open the drawers looking for their name tags and oh no, of course not, go ahead, this is OUR office now and we don't want to step on any toes and oh no don't worry about it it'll be fine we'll work well together and all you can think about is how stupid you look wandering the halls and doing laps around the tables outside because you got kicked out of your office for just a sec as they tour the little place and all you can think about is how they get name tags and you don't. |
